Jacobs Solutions announced a four‑year extension of its National Security Science and Research (NSSR) program with the U.K. Department for Transport, keeping the company at the forefront of science‑led solutions designed to protect the country’s air, road and rail networks.

The program brings together a coalition of partners, including PA Consulting, QinetiQ, TNO, Iconal Technology, Cambridge University Technical Services and Prometheus Policing Services. Jacobs will contribute its expertise in transport infrastructure, systems integration and resilience planning, while PA Consulting will provide quantum, cyber, aviation security and program‑management capabilities.

The extension dovetails with Jacobs’ strategic focus on critical infrastructure and sustainability and aligns with the pending full acquisition of PA Consulting, expected to close by the end of fiscal 2026’s second quarter. The integration of PA Consulting’s capabilities is anticipated to strengthen Jacobs’ offering in cyber and quantum security, further enhancing the value delivered under the NSSR program.

Jacobs’ financial performance underscores its capacity to deliver such programs. The company reported fiscal 2023 revenue of $4.3 billion, a 9.6% year‑over‑year increase, and guidance for fiscal 2024 adjusted EBITDA of $1.53 billion to $1.60 billion. In fiscal Q3 2024, revenue rose 1.06% to $4.23 billion, and the company’s backlog stood at $4.3 billion, providing a solid foundation for the extended contract.

Management highlighted the strategic importance of the extension. Richard Sanderson, Jacobs Executive Vice President, said, "This program applies science, technology and agile delivery discipline to real‑world transport security challenges. Continuing this work supports the Department for Transport’s goal of maintaining a secure, resilient and adaptable transport network over the long term." Steve Carden, PA Consulting Transport Innovation Expert, added, "This strategically important work sits at the intersection of innovation, security and public impact. The renewed contract shows how collaboration can address complex national security challenges and scale impact across critical areas like cyber, standards and characterization, and behavioral science. Together we are working to strengthen national security while building a more resilient transport network and keeping the U.K.’s transport systems moving safely, every day."

Jacobs employs more than 5,000 people in the U.K., operating across 15 core offices and over 35 additional sites, positioning the company to scale the program and deliver on the extended contract.
