Jabil Inc. and Sivers Semiconductors announced a partnership to develop a 1.6 T linear receive optical (LRO) transceiver module that will use Sivers’ high‑performance distributed‑feedback lasers. The joint product is designed to deliver the bandwidth required by hyperscale AI workloads while cutting power consumption by up to 2.5‑fold compared with current solutions.

The collaboration targets the AI data‑center market, where demand for 800 G and higher‑speed optical transceivers is projected to grow to 225 million units by 2030, representing 80 % of the global pluggables market. By combining Jabil’s manufacturing expertise with Sivers’ photonics technology, the new transceiver will help meet the power‑efficiency requirements of next‑generation AI clusters.

Jabil’s CEO and management have positioned the company to move up the value chain in AI infrastructure. The partnership aligns with a $500 million investment in U.S. manufacturing for cloud and AI data‑center infrastructure and supports Jabil’s strategy to add high‑margin, high‑volume components to its integrated systems portfolio. "Our customers are pushing for more bandwidth without increasing power consumption. Working with Sivers will allow us to deliver a 1.6 T LRO solution that meets both data‑center performance and power targets at scale," said Jason Wildt, Vice President and General Manager of Photonics at Jabil.

Sivers, which is raising approximately $12 million through a private placement and exploring a dual listing on the Nasdaq, will supply the DFB lasers that power the module. "Energy efficiency is now a hard requirement in AI infrastructure scaling. Jabil is an industry leader, and we are excited to supply our high‑performance lasers for their ultra‑low power 1.6 T LRO optical transceivers for AI data centers," added Alex McCann, Managing Director for Sivers’ Photonics business.

The partnership is a major operational milestone that strengthens Jabil’s competitive position against traditional EMS providers and deepens relationships with hyperscale customers seeking energy‑efficient solutions. It also positions Sivers to capture a growing share of the high‑speed optical transceiver market, reinforcing its strategic importance in the AI ecosystem.
