JetBlue Airways Corporation began seasonal service between Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport (BCN) on April 16 2026. The new route operates daily, with flights scheduled to depart BOS at 8:04 p.m. and arrive in Barcelona at 9:45 a.m., and return from BCN at 12:50 p.m. to BOS at 3:38 p.m. The service uses the airline’s A321neo fleet equipped with Mint® lie‑flat private suites and free Fly‑Fi connectivity.

The launch is a key element of JetBlue’s JetForward strategy to expand its international footprint. Barcelona becomes the airline’s second Spanish destination after Madrid, increasing its European network to seven cities and adding up to nine daily nonstop flights between Boston and Europe during the summer season. The new service is expected to generate incremental revenue and strengthen JetBlue’s premium‑value proposition in a competitive transatlantic market.

JetBlue’s route expansion comes amid a period of financial challenge. The carrier reported a net loss of $208 million in Q1 2025 and a $602 million loss for the full year, with operating revenue down year‑over‑year in both periods. The new Boston–Barcelona service is intended to boost revenue and leverage the high‑margin Mint product to attract both leisure and business travelers, supporting the airline’s broader profitability goals.

Management highlighted the strategic importance of the launch. Marty St. George said, "The launch of service between Boston and Barcelona marks another exciting step in JetBlue's transatlantic service." Joanna Geraghty added, "We're excited to introduce our first service to Spain's Catalonia region, connecting two dynamic global hubs and expanding our international reach."

Investors reacted strongly to the announcement, with analysts noting the route launch as a milestone in JetForward and speculation about a potential sale or merger adding to heightened interest. The announcement reinforced JetBlue’s focus on premium transatlantic travel and its commitment to expanding from Boston.

The new route will operate daily with A321neo aircraft, offering Mint lie‑flat suites and free Fly‑Fi. The schedule—departing BOS at 8:04 p.m., arriving BCN at 9:45 a.m., returning from BCN at 12:50 p.m., arriving BOS at 3:38 p.m.—provides convenient connections for both leisure and business travelers.
