JetBlue launched new nonstop flights from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Destin–Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) on March 5 2026, marking its 11th Florida destination and adding a direct link between the Northeast and the Emerald Coast.

The launch is part of JetBlue’s “JetForward” strategy, which focuses on network optimization and strengthening the East Coast leisure corridor. By adding VPS, JetBlue taps a growing tourism corridor that has seen increased demand for beach vacations, and the airline plans to operate the service seasonally from March through late May to capture peak spring‑break and early‑summer traffic.

JetBlue will deploy Airbus A320 aircraft on the new routes, offering 150 seats and the airline’s signature free Wi‑Fi, live TV, and complimentary snacks. The choice of a narrow‑body aircraft reflects the expected passenger mix and the need for efficient operations on a short‑haul route.

Management emphasized the strategic importance of the expansion. “By adding Destin–Fort Walton Beach to our map, we’re bringing more choices to customers in Boston and New York while opening the door for Emerald Coast residents to connect easily to the Northeast and beyond,” said Dave Jehn, JetBlue’s vice president of network planning and airline partnerships.

The new routes complement JetBlue’s broader Florida expansion, which includes plans for Vero Beach and Daytona Beach and a total of more than 30 new Florida destinations added over the past year. The move positions JetBlue to capture a larger share of leisure traffic from the Northeast, where the airline already enjoys strong brand recognition and a loyal customer base.

While the announcement does not include financial impact data, the addition of VPS aligns with JetBlue’s focus on high‑margin leisure travel and its ongoing fleet modernization, which prioritizes Airbus A220 deliveries and defers A321neo orders to improve fuel efficiency and reduce operating costs.
