KB Home announced that it will move its corporate headquarters from Los Angeles to Tempe, Arizona, with the transition scheduled for spring 2027. The new office will be located at Hayden Ferry Lakeside in Tempe and is intended to bring executive leadership and key corporate functions together in a more central location, reducing overhead and streamlining decision making.

The announcement follows Q1 2026 results that showed revenue fell 23% to $1.08 billion, diluted earnings per share dropped to $0.52 from $1.49, and homebuilding operating income fell to $33 million from $127.3 million. Management cited affordability concerns, elevated mortgage rates, and geopolitical uncertainty—particularly the Middle East conflict—as drivers of weaker demand.

Management said the move will lower the company’s cost structure and enhance operational efficiency. "This move brings our teams together in a more collaborative environment, and Phoenix is the right place to do it," said Robert McGibney, President and Chief Executive Officer. "It positions KB Home to operate more effectively and supports the next phase of our growth," he added.

KB Home will maintain a strong presence in California through its six operating divisions, which continue to employ a significant workforce. The company has also reduced headcount by 10% in Q1 2026, indicating a broader effort to control costs.

The relocation aligns with the company’s broader strategy to shift toward a built‑to‑order model and to focus on high‑margin opportunities. It is part of a cost‑control program that includes share repurchases and disciplined capital allocation.

Analysts have responded to the Q1 2026 results with caution, citing margin compression and lowered full‑year guidance. The company’s guidance for deliveries and revenue has been cut, reflecting concerns about near‑term demand. The relocation is seen as a step to mitigate these headwinds.
