Eastman Kodak announced that its RaiCore battery electrode platform now supports lithium‑cobalt‑oxide (LCO), lithium‑iron‑phosphate (LFP), and nickel‑manganese‑cobalt (NMC) chemistries and has received third‑party verification that its products are PFAS‑free.
The RaiCore platform, developed in partnership with Ateios Systems, uses a high‑speed, solvent‑free electrode manufacturing process that delivers high‑energy, high‑quality electrodes. The platform’s ability to accommodate LCO, LFP, and NMC chemistries positions Kodak to supply high‑performance electrodes to OEMs and battery manufacturers across the electric‑vehicle market, and it is a key component of the company’s Advanced Materials & Chemicals segment.
"Ateios continues to raise the bar for battery performance with their RaiCore™ electrodes, and Kodak is proud to contribute to the success of the platform by leveraging our expertise in precise, high‑speed multilayer coating," said Jim Continenza, Executive Chairman and CEO of Kodak. "With the support of our customers, Kodak, and key materials suppliers, we continue pushing the frontier of battery production speed, performance, and sustainability. Our goal is simple: help battery innovators build higher‑performance batteries and enable seamless adoption inside existing gigafactories," added Dr. Rajan Kumar, Founder and CEO of Ateios Systems.
The independent PFAS‑free verification is the world’s only such certification for battery electrodes, giving Kodak a competitive edge as regulatory restrictions on PFAS tighten and sustainability becomes a key purchasing criterion. By offering a PFAS‑free, multi‑chemistry platform, Kodak differentiates itself from competitors that rely on PFAS‑containing processes and can appeal to a broader range of battery designers.
The announcement expands Kodak’s presence in the rapidly growing EV battery supply chain. It complements the company’s recent Q4 2025 results, which showed a 9% year‑over‑year revenue increase and a 31% rise in gross profit, and signals a strategic shift toward high‑growth advanced materials. The RaiCore platform is expected to drive future revenue growth and strengthen Kodak’s position as a leading supplier of sustainable battery materials.
