Karman Holdings announced on March 10, 2026 that it will open a new, state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facility in the greater Salt Lake City, Utah area. The plant is designed to quadruple the company’s UAS launcher production capacity and double its solid‑rocket‑motor (SRM) nozzle capacity, directly addressing the growing demand from Pentagon missile and UAS programs.
The expansion is part of Karman’s broader strategy to scale production in response to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which was signed into law on July 4, 2025 and allocates significant defense spending. By consolidating metal and composite manufacturing, processing, assembly, and testing under one roof, the company aims to reduce lead times and improve quality control for its critical hypersonic and missile‑defense components.
Karman has invested over $15 million in expanding capacity at its existing facilities in the past 12 months, and received $5 million in matching Defense Production Act Title III funding to boost SRM nozzle production. While the specific capital investment for the new Utah facility has not been disclosed, the expansion represents a substantial capital outlay and a tangible step toward meeting the company’s projected backlog.
Production readiness for the new plant is anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2026. The facility will enable Karman to meet its funded backlog of $758.2 million and capture a larger share of the defense and space supply chain in the coming years.
"Karman understands the urgency to increase critical U.S. and allied military capabilities to ensure preparedness for peer and near‑peer threats. We are investing in more capacity and capabilities to support our customers’ aggressive production plans with proven content and performance," said Jonathan Beaudoin, COO of Karman Holdings.
Piper Sandler upgraded Karman to “Overweight” and raised its price target to $127, citing a potential “munitions super cycle” driven by geopolitical tensions and the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The upgrade reflects confidence in the company’s ability to capitalize on the expanding demand for missile and UAS components.
The announcement was followed by a market reaction, with analysts noting the expansion as a key driver of future growth and a strategic move that positions Karman to meet the increasing demand from defense and space programs.
