Lakeland Industries’ California PPE Recon announced a long‑term lease agreement with Tersus Solutions to install a CO₂‑based turnout gear cleaning system at its Riverside, California facility. The lease, finalized on February 19, 2026, marks the first deployment of this technology in the state.

The system uses liquid CO₂ to decontaminate firefighter protective gear without water, detergents, or harsh chemicals. The water‑less process is expected to reduce turnaround time and extend the life of turnout ensembles, helping departments meet NFPA 1850 standards for gear care and maintenance.

The new equipment will be showcased at FDIC International 2026 before being shipped to Riverside. While the exact operational date at the facility has not yet been disclosed, the lease agreement was signed on February 19, 2026.

This move aligns with Lakeland’s strategy to expand its recurring revenue service platform following the September 2025 acquisition of California PPE Recon. CEO Jim Jenkins noted that the addition “expands the tools available to departments seeking the highest standards in gear care, readiness, and firefighter health.”

Lakeland’s recent financials show revenue growth but profitability challenges. In Q3 FY2026, the company reported an earnings‑per‑share loss of $1.64, missing the consensus estimate of $0.2625, and revenue of $47.6 million, below the forecast of $59.58 million. The company has withdrawn guidance for FY2026, reflecting uncertainty in the near term.

Despite the earnings miss, the CO₂ system represents a strategic investment in advanced decontamination. The technology can remove up to 98% of carcinogens and offers faster drying times, potentially giving Lakeland a competitive edge in the growing market for firefighter health and safety.
