NASA’s Artemis II mission lifted off on April 1, 2026, marking the first crewed journey to the Moon since the Apollo program ended in 1972. The four‑person crew—Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist Christina Koch, and Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen—completed a 10‑day lunar flyby that tested Orion’s deep‑space systems.

L3Harris Technologies supplied the propulsion system and avionics for the Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft. The company’s RS‑25 and RL10 engines, Orion main engine, in‑space thrusters, and astronaut communication systems were integral to the mission’s trajectory and safe return. L3Harris’s technology has powered every crewed NASA mission since Project Mercury.

"Artemis II marks a new era in human space exploration with the first crewed flight of NASA’s Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft. We congratulate NASA and all our teammates on achieving liftoff, and we remain focused on supporting the Artemis II mission through its successful completion," said Christopher Kubasik, Chairman and CEO of L3Harris.

The launch underscores L3Harris’s expertise in high‑reliability propulsion and avionics, reinforcing its position as a key partner in NASA’s human spaceflight program. The company’s involvement signals a growing opportunity to secure future contracts in commercial and government space programs, potentially expanding its revenue base and strengthening its competitive moat in space‑related defense technologies.

L3Harris’s share price has risen 69.9% over the past year and 90.7% over the past three years, reflecting long‑term investor confidence in the company’s role in major aerospace and defense projects, including Artemis II.

The successful launch demonstrates L3Harris’s continued ability to deliver complex, mission‑critical systems, positioning the company to capture additional opportunities in the expanding space sector and to maintain its leadership in resilient communications and space sensing.
