Marvell Technology and Lumentum Holdings Inc. showcased a live demonstration of Marvell’s optical connectivity solutions working seamlessly with Lumentum’s optical circuit switching (OCS) platform at the OFC 2026 conference in Los Angeles. The test, staged in Marvell’s booth (#1600) during the exhibition days, was the first public proof‑of‑concept of a fully interoperable system that integrates Marvell’s transceiver technology with Lumentum’s OCS hardware for next‑generation AI data‑center interconnects.

The demonstration highlighted Marvell’s Aquila 1.6 Tbps coherent‑lite DSPs, Ara 1.6 Tbps PAM‑4 DSPs, and COLORZ® 800 ZR/ZR+ DCI modules, all of which were paired with Lumentum’s R300 OCS platform. The R300 offers a large port count and software‑controlled optical paths that eliminate intermediate electrical‑to‑optical conversions, reducing latency and power consumption for AI workloads. Together the two companies illustrated a rack‑level system that delivers high‑bandwidth, low‑latency, and power‑efficient connectivity across a data‑center fabric.

Lumentum’s OCS strategy is a key driver of its high‑margin growth. The company’s backlog for OCS has surpassed $400 million, with a significant portion expected to ship in the second half of 2026. Lumentum has also secured orders for ultra‑high‑power lasers for co‑packaged optics (CPO), extending revenue visibility into 2027. Nvidia’s adoption of Lumentum’s 1.6 Tbps optical solution for its Rubin AI platform further validates the technology and expands the addressable market for both firms.

Investors reacted positively to the announcement, with Lumentum’s shares rising on the day of the event. The demonstration reinforced the company’s narrative of expanding capacity and market reach in the AI infrastructure space and underscored its ability to partner with leading semiconductor companies to accelerate product commercialization.

Citi analyst Papa Sylla placed Lumentum on a 30‑day catalyst watch following the OFC presentation, anticipating that management will provide updated revenue or total addressable market projections for OCS and CPO that exceed current forecasts.

The live interoperability test positions Marvell and Lumentum at the forefront of the rapidly growing AI data‑center interconnect market, offering a scalable, high‑performance solution that meets the bandwidth, latency, and power efficiency demands of hyperscale cloud operators.
