Lockheed Martin announced a partnership with Polish defense contractor WZL‑1 to sustain the Polish Armed Forces’ fleet of AH‑64 Apache attack helicopters. The agreement establishes a Special Repair Activity for Apache sensors, including the Generation 4 Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor (Gen 4 TADS/PNVS) systems, and provides WZL‑1 with resources, training, and technical support from Lockheed Martin.

The partnership expands Lockheed Martin’s sustainment business in Europe and reinforces its position in the European defense market. It also supports Poland’s industrial base by creating skilled jobs and facilitating technology transfer, thereby strengthening the U.S. defense ecosystem and Poland’s role within NATO. The collaboration builds on WZL‑1’s existing work with Lockheed Martin on Patriot PAC‑3 missile components and is part of broader offset agreements related to Poland’s 96‑unit AH‑64E Apache Guardian acquisition program, valued at approximately $10.8 billion.

Poland’s acquisition of 96 AH‑64E Apache Guardian helicopters makes it the second‑largest operator of the platform worldwide, with the first deliveries expected in summer 2028. By localizing Apache sensor sustainment in Poland, the partnership is expected to increase mission‑capable rates and aircraft availability for the Polish Armed Forces, enhancing allied deterrence and interoperability.

"Lockheed Martin is honored to deepen our long‑standing partnership with Poland, delivering advanced sensor and sustainment capabilities that strengthen the nation's security and its vital role within NATO. By working hand‑in‑hand with Poland's defense industry, we're supporting both Poland's industrial base and fortifying the U.S. defense ecosystem," said Stacy Kubicek, vice president and general manager, Lockheed Martin Sensors and Global Sustainment.

"These capabilities will ensure the maintenance of a high level of operational availability of Apache helicopters in the Polish Armed Forces, which will translate into the security of our state," added Jacek A. Goszczyński, PhD. Eng., CEO of Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze Nr 1 S.A. (WZL‑1).
