LG Display announced that its large‑size OLED panels for TVs and monitors have achieved 100% dimming consistency, a first‑of‑its‑kind verification performed by UL Solutions on February 25, 2026. The test required reducing a reference area to one‑tenth of the panel’s total area and measuring the uniformity of pixel dimming across the entire display, confirming that every pixel can be dimmed to the same level without variation.

The panels use LG Display’s Primary RGB Tandem 2.0 architecture, which stacks independent red, green, and blue layers to deliver peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits and a reflectance as low as 0.3%. In contrast, LCD panels typically see dimming consistency drop from 83% to as low as 43% when scaled to large sizes, underscoring OLED’s inherent advantage in pixel‑level light control and its suitability for high‑resolution, AI‑generated content.

"We have objectively identified why OLED appears brighter and clearer. Through this verification, we can more clearly explain to customers that OLED’s pixel dimming technology, which maintains 100% dimming consistency, is the optimal choice in the AI era," said Hyeon‑woo Lee, head of LG Display’s Large Display Business Unit. The milestone positions LG Display to reinforce its leadership in the large OLED panel market and to market OLED as the preferred display technology for AI‑driven applications that demand precise brightness and color accuracy.

The dimming‑consistency announcement follows LG Display’s Q4 2025 earnings, where the company reported a net profit of KRW 517 billion but missed EPS expectations, posting an EPS of –KRW 0.2503 against a consensus of KRW 0.175. The company’s revenue for the quarter was KRW 7.2008 trillion, a slight quarter‑over‑quarter increase but a year‑over‑year decline, and OLED products accounted for 65% of Q4 revenue. The new verification demonstrates that LG Display’s strategic shift toward OLED is yielding tangible technological advantages that could support future revenue growth, even as the company navigates earnings volatility.
