Lumen Technologies announced on February 19, 2026 that it has begun deploying Blue Planet’s AI agents across its network operations as part of a broader strategy to build a trusted AI‑ready network. The rollout will allow Lumen to model hundreds of devices, automate data discovery and migration, and streamline resource reconciliation across its inventory, embedding AI agents into a digital‑twin operations model that delivers proactive, real‑time insights and moves the company closer to fully autonomous networks.

The deployment is a key lever in Lumen’s push to capture high‑margin AI infrastructure contracts. The company has already secured $5 billion in deals to connect data centers to its fiber network and is in talks for an additional $7 billion. By automating core processes and reducing legacy complexity, the AI agents are expected to cut operational costs and improve the customer experience, reinforcing Lumen’s competitive moat in the evolving AI market. "Across our enterprise operations, we're using AI to digitize and automate core processes, eliminate legacy complexity, boost agility and speed, and free our teams to focus on higher‑value innovation that improves the customer experience," said Kye Prigg, Chief Commercial Operations Officer. "Blue Planet AI Studio is helping Lumen introduce AI‑driven capabilities into our OSS environment across real‑world workflows, enabling the creation of AI agents to help streamline operational tasks and reduce costs," added Joe Cumello, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Blue Planet.

Lumen’s partnership with Blue Planet is not new; in August 2024 the company selected Blue Planet’s software to transform its network inventory, consolidating legacy systems and digitizing assets. The current AI agent rollout builds on that foundation and dovetails with Lumen’s multi‑billion‑dollar fiber expansion plan, which aims to add 34 million new intercity miles by 2028, and its partnership with Google Cloud to develop a digital twin of its network. The deployment also aligns with Lumen’s financial transformation, including the sale of its mass‑market fiber business to AT&T, which is expected to reduce debt and free capital for strategic investments.

While specific market reaction data for this announcement is not available, analysts have noted that Lumen’s AI strategy is gaining traction. The company’s focus on AI‑ready infrastructure and its ability to secure large contracts suggest a positive outlook for its long‑term growth prospects.
