Lumen Technologies announced that its Network‑as‑a‑Service (NaaS) customer base has doubled to more than 2,000 businesses since the third quarter of 2025, up from 1,000 customers announced on August 13, 2025. The milestone was reached sometime between August and February, marking a 100% increase in the number of enterprises using Lumen’s programmable, on‑demand connectivity platform.

The growth was driven by a 29% quarter‑over‑quarter rise in NaaS customers reported in Q4 2025, reflecting strong demand for low‑latency, AI‑ready network services. Lumen’s NaaS platform, launched in late 2023, offers Internet On‑Demand, Ethernet On‑Demand, and IP VPN On‑Demand services that enable customers to scale bandwidth and automate network provisioning in real time.

This expansion underscores Lumen’s strategic pivot from legacy broadband to a high‑margin AI infrastructure provider. By capturing a larger share of the enterprise market, the company is solidifying its position as the “trusted network for AI,” a positioning that is expected to drive recurring revenue and improve operating leverage over the coming years.

Jim Fowler, Lumen’s Chief Technology and Product Officer, said, “Surpassing 2,000 NaaS customers so quickly shows programmable networking is no longer experimental, it’s becoming the control plane for Cloud 2.0. Our platform gives businesses the composability, scalability, and performance they need to operate at AI speed.”

The milestone fits into Lumen’s broader transformation agenda, which includes adding 34 million new intercity fiber miles by 2028, upgrading network capacity to 400 Gbps, and completing a $5.75 billion transaction with AT&T that reduced debt and strengthened the balance sheet. An Investor Day scheduled for February 25 2026 will further detail the company’s AI strategy and product pipeline.

The doubling of NaaS customers signals robust demand for Lumen’s AI‑ready connectivity solutions and positions the company for continued growth in the AI‑driven connectivity space, reinforcing its shift toward high‑margin, recurring‑revenue business models.
