DoorDash announced that its DashPass subscription will now include rideshare savings with Lyft in Canada, extending the benefit beyond food delivery to transportation. The partnership offers DashPass members upfront discounts on eligible Lyft rides in the ten largest Canadian cities, including a one‑time 50% discount (up to $10) within 30 days of linking accounts, followed by ongoing benefits of 5% off on‑demand rides and 10% off scheduled airport rides (up to four discounted rides per month) and two priority pickup upgrades per month. New DashPass users who are also Lyft riders may qualify for a three‑month free trial of DashPass.
The move builds on a U.S. partnership that began earlier this year and positions DoorDash as a broader lifestyle membership. By bundling rideshare savings with its existing delivery benefits, DoorDash aims to increase DashPass subscriptions, improve retention, and deepen customer engagement. The expansion also aligns with DoorDash’s broader strategy of integrating Amazon Prime memberships and “Family Sharing” features in Canada.
For Lyft, the partnership taps into DoorDash’s extensive user network and strengthens its Canadian presence, which it has maintained since 2017. Lyft’s rides in Canada grew over 20% year‑over‑year in the first half of 2025, and the company now serves riders in the ten largest cities. The partnership is part of Lyft’s international expansion strategy, which also includes the €175 million acquisition of the European mobility platform Freenow completed in August 2025.
Rob Edell, Vice President and General Manager of DashPass, said, “DashPass helps Canadians save on everyday moments, whether it’s ordering from a restaurant, getting groceries delivered, or now getting around town. We’re expanding that value to more of life’s occasions through our partnership with Lyft, creating more savings while ordering in and heading out.” Jordan Glassberg, Vice President of Partnerships and Loyalty at Lyft, added, “Canada has been a priority region for Lyft since 2017, and bringing our DoorDash partnership to help Canadian riders save more with DashPass is a natural next step. We’re committed to making Lyft the most rewarding way to get around – in every city we serve.”
The partnership is expected to generate additional revenue for Lyft through partnership fees and increased rider acquisition, while DoorDash benefits from added value for its DashPass members, potentially driving higher subscription retention and usage. The collaboration also differentiates both platforms in competitive markets and supports Lyft’s goal of becoming the most rewarding rideshare experience in Canada and beyond.
