McDonald’s Corporation has appointed Skye Anderson as the chief operating officer of its U.S. business, a newly created position that will oversee day‑to‑day operations across the country’s franchise network. Anderson’s role will integrate U.S. National Operations, Restaurant Development, McOpCo, U.S. Supply Chain, and U.S. Technology to streamline processes and improve service consistency.
Anderson brings more than 25 years of experience at McDonald’s, having previously served as president of Global Business Services and as U.S. West Zone President and Field Vice President. Her tenure has focused on scaling enterprise capabilities, including the expansion of GBS offices in Hyderabad and Mexico City, and on driving operational efficiencies across the organization.
The appointment comes as McDonald’s reports strong recent performance: in the fourth quarter of 2025 global comparable sales rose 5.7%, with the U.S. market up 6.8%. The company’s full‑year 2025 comparable sales grew 3.1% globally (U.S. 2.1%) and systemwide sales increased 7% worldwide. McDonald’s plans to open roughly 2,600 new restaurants in 2026, underscoring the strategic importance of the U.S. unit, which accounts for a significant share of the company’s sales and margin profile.
Management emphasized the strategic intent behind the change. "These leadership updates build on our momentum and ensure we have the right leaders in place to drive growth, execution, and enterprise transformation across the McDonald’s System," said Joe Erlinger, Ian Borden, and Jill McDonald. "Skye’s new role allows McDonald’s USA to ensure that the systems, tools, and supply needed to deliver consistently strong restaurant experiences are aligned from end to end." Chairman and CEO Chris Kempczinski added, "McDonald’s value leadership is working. By listening to customers and taking action, we have improved traffic and strengthened our value & affordability scores. That focus helped increase global systemwide sales by 8% and delivered strong comp sales growth across all segments this quarter. The momentum we’ve built reinforces the progress we’ve made with our strategy and has earned us the right to look forward together as a system."
The COO appointment is part of a broader leadership realignment that also names Mason Smoot as senior vice president of global franchising and delivery and Mattijs Backx as chief transformation and services officer. Together, these changes support McDonald’s "Modernizing McDonald’s" agenda, aiming to integrate operations, enhance digital capabilities, and accelerate growth in the U.S. market.
