Mondelez International announced that Luca Zaramella will serve as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, effective February 1, 2026. Zaramella, who has been with the company since 2001 and became CFO in September 2018, will now oversee commercial operations across the company’s four geographic regions—North America, Europe, Asia‑Pacific, and Latin America—as well as corporate sales, marketing and supply‑chain functions.
The dual appointment is intended to streamline decision‑making and accelerate execution. By combining the COO and CFO functions, Mondelez aims to align financial strategy directly with day‑to‑day operations, allowing CEO Dirk Van de Put to focus on long‑term strategic priorities such as potential mergers, acquisitions and market expansion initiatives.
Zaramella’s expanded remit will cover the full spectrum of commercial activities, from pricing and product launches to supply‑chain optimization. His oversight will span the company’s four geographic regions, ensuring that regional sales and marketing teams operate under a unified financial framework and that supply‑chain decisions are made with a clear view of cost and revenue impacts.
The CFO responsibilities that Zaramella previously held will be absorbed by the existing finance leadership team, with the current Chief Accounting Officer stepping into the interim CFO role until a permanent replacement is identified. This transition plan preserves continuity in financial reporting and compliance while the new COO/CFO focuses on operational integration.
The appointment signals Mondelez’s commitment to tighter cost control and operational efficiency. By integrating financial oversight with commercial execution, the company expects to improve margin discipline, reduce duplication of effort, and accelerate the rollout of new products and market initiatives. The move also positions Mondelez to respond more swiftly to competitive pressures and supply‑chain disruptions, potentially enhancing its ability to capture market share in key regions.
"We are confident that Luca’s deep understanding of Mondelez’s financial and operational landscape will accelerate our execution and strengthen our competitive position," said CEO Dirk Van de Put. He added that the dual role will free him to pursue strategic growth opportunities and focus on long‑term shareholder value.
