Mosaic announced new global sustainability targets for 2030 that cover greenhouse‑gas emissions, water usage, and waste management, with a commitment to report progress annually to investors and stakeholders.

The targets are embedded in a “People, Earth, and Innovation” framework. While specific percentage reductions are not disclosed, the company builds on past achievements such as a 20 % cut in GHG and freshwater use per unit in 2025 and a 10 % GHG reduction in 2020, underscoring its long‑term commitment to environmental performance.

Mosaic’s strategy aligns with the U.S. Department of the Interior’s designation of phosphate and potash as critical minerals, reinforcing the company’s strategic importance for national security and food security. The firm is also exploring rare‑earth recovery from phosphogypsum, linking its operations to advanced technologies and defense applications.

CEO Bruce Bodine emphasized that sustainability is integrated into daily operations, stating, “Sustainability is not a standalone initiative – it is the sum of actions we take every day to strengthen our business, support our people and the communities where we live and work, and steward the resources that make our work possible.”

Analysts note that while Mosaic has set ambitious net‑zero targets, third‑party analysis suggests the company may not be on track to meet its 2040 Scope 1 and 2 net‑zero goal and that it currently does not address Scope 3 emissions. The new 2030 targets represent a step toward addressing these gaps and reinforcing investor confidence in the company’s long‑term ESG trajectory.
