Nebius Group N.V. has announced the construction of a 310‑megawatt AI data‑center in Lappeenranta, Finland, with initial capacity slated to become available to customers in 2027. The facility will be one of Europe’s largest dedicated AI factories and will add to the company’s growing European footprint.

The project is expected to create up to 700 construction jobs during the build phase and about 100 permanent positions once the data‑center is operational, underscoring the company’s commitment to local economic development and long‑term workforce stability.

Nebius’s expansion follows the 75‑MW upgrade of its Mäntsälä data‑center earlier in 2026 and is part of the company’s goal to secure more than 3 GW of contracted power by the end of 2026. The Lappeenranta plant will deploy NVIDIA’s latest Blackwell and Rubin generations of accelerated compute, and the total investment is estimated to exceed $10 billion. Sustainability will be a key design principle, with closed‑loop liquid cooling and heat‑recovery systems planned to reduce the facility’s environmental footprint.

Arkady Volozh, founder and CEO, said, “We have been building in Finland for many years and are pleased to be expanding our presence here. Lappeenranta represents a significant addition to our global AI infrastructure build‑out, and will make a significant contribution to achieving our capacity goals.”

City of Lappeenranta Mayor Tuomo Sallinen welcomed the announcement, stating, “Lappeenranta offers an increasingly attractive environment for innovation, with our universities playing a key role in developing top talent tailored to the needs of high‑tech industries. The new data center will position our city at the forefront of Finland’s AI ecosystem and help meet Europe’s growing demand for artificial intelligence for decades to come.”

The announcement reinforces Nebius’s position as a leading full‑stack AI infrastructure provider. Analysts generally hold a positive outlook on the company’s strategy, citing the scale of its capacity expansion, the partnership with NVIDIA, and the company’s track record of securing large contracts with major tech firms as key drivers of future growth.
