Nasdaq and Talos Announce Partnership to Streamline Tokenized Collateral Management

Nasdaq Inc. and digital‑asset platform Talos announced a partnership that will connect Talos’s infrastructure with Nasdaq’s Calypso and Trade Surveillance platforms, creating an integrated solution for managing tokenized collateral across on‑chain and off‑chain assets.

The collaboration will allow institutions to handle securities, cash equivalents and other high‑quality assets within a single risk and asset framework, eliminating the current barrier that prevents widespread adoption of tokenized collateral in institutional markets.

The partnership is designed to unlock the 25% of collateral that is currently tied up in non‑interest‑bearing measures—over $35 billion—by enabling real‑time mobility of assets across platforms and jurisdictions, thereby improving operational efficiency and intraday liquidity.

This deal fits into Nasdaq’s broader tokenization strategy, which includes a recent SEC approval to list and trade tokenized versions of publicly traded equities and the company’s own tokenization initiatives. Talos, which acquired Coin Metrics in 2025, brings institutional‑grade digital‑asset capabilities that complement Nasdaq’s risk and surveillance tools.

"This partnership solves a fundamental challenge facing institutional markets: the inability to manage exposure across markets with a single risk and asset lens," said Roland Chai, Executive Vice President of Nasdaq. "This partnership builds on a series of strategic initiatives designed to converge on‑ and off‑chain market ecosystems, while preserving the liquidity, transparency and integrity of regulated markets." Anton Katz, CEO and Co‑Founder of Talos, added, "The evolution toward tokenized collateral is a natural progression for institutional capital markets. By combining Talos’s digital asset infrastructure with Nasdaq’s Calypso and Trade Surveillance platforms, firms can connect workflows for execution, risk, collateral and compliance to reduce operational friction across both on‑ and off‑chain asset classes."

The partnership is expected to accelerate institutional adoption of tokenized collateral, provide Nasdaq with new revenue streams from connectivity across traditional and digital asset markets, and enhance market integrity through integrated surveillance of suspicious trading patterns such as layering, spoofing and wash trading. While the collaboration offers significant tailwinds, it also presents challenges in aligning on‑chain and off‑chain workflows and ensuring regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
