Nasdaq Launches Private Capital Indexes to Provide Benchmarking for Institutional Investors

Nasdaq, Inc. introduced its Nasdaq Private Capital™ Indexes on February 10 2026, a suite of benchmark tools that bring transparency and representativeness to private‑market investing. The new indexes cover more than 14,000 institutional private‑market funds and aggregate over $11.4 trillion in global assets under management, offering rule‑based, NAV‑weighted performance measures for private equity, venture capital, private debt, fund‑of‑funds and real‑estate strategies.

The indexes are built on a robust methodology that incorporates LP‑reported fund performance, a modified Dietz quarterly measurement, and a two‑quarter restatement process. By weighting each fund’s NAV, the indexes provide a realistic view of private‑market returns that aligns with how institutional investors evaluate their portfolios. The breadth of coverage—spanning five core private‑market asset classes—ensures that the benchmarks are both comprehensive and representative of the market’s diversity.

This product launch is part of Nasdaq’s broader Private Capital Solutions platform, which also includes the Nasdaq eVestment Fund, Deal Benchmarking, the Private Fund Universe, and the TopQ+ analytics suite. By adding the Private Capital Indexes, Nasdaq is creating a new recurring revenue stream and reinforcing its position as a leading provider of data and analytics for capital markets. The indexes are designed to be workflow‑ready, allowing institutional investors to integrate them directly into allocation models, performance attribution, and risk management processes.

Oliver Albers, Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer for Capital Access Platforms, said the launch addresses a long‑standing fragmentation in private markets. "Private markets are at a pivotal moment, growing rapidly in both importance and complexity. Yet the ecosystem remains highly fragmented, with data trapped in silos, inconsistent benchmarks, and limited interoperability," Albers noted. "The Nasdaq Private Capital™ Indexes change that by providing a comprehensive, representative view of private markets built on LP‑reported performance."

The introduction of these indexes is expected to accelerate client adoption of Nasdaq’s Private Capital Solutions suite, attract new institutional investors seeking transparent benchmarks, and support long‑term growth in a market that is increasingly valued for its depth and opacity. By offering a standardized benchmark, Nasdaq positions itself to capture a larger share of the private‑market data and analytics business, strengthening its competitive advantage beyond traditional exchange services.
