Omnissa reports that customer adoption of its Horizon virtual desktop and application platform on Nutanix’s AHV hypervisor is expanding, with more than 200 beta sign‑ups validating strong demand for the integration.

The partnership extends Nutanix’s software‑defined infrastructure into the digital work platform space, giving customers a flexible way to deploy, scale, and manage virtual desktop environments on Nutanix’s hyper‑converged platform. This move positions Nutanix as a comprehensive hybrid‑multicloud provider and expands its ecosystem beyond traditional infrastructure.

Omnissa, formerly VMware’s End‑User Computing business, was spun out by Broadcom and acquired by KKR in July 2024. The partnership allows Omnissa to offer Horizon on a modern hypervisor that has already gained traction among Nutanix customers, with more than 20,000 users worldwide and an 82% adoption rate among Nutanix’s customer base.

The more than 200 beta sign‑ups demonstrate that enterprises are testing the integration, indicating confidence in AHV’s ability to support virtual desktop workloads. This adoption signals growing market acceptance of Nutanix’s AHV hypervisor, which has historically been dominated by VMware vSphere, and could accelerate AHV’s share in the VDI market.

The partnership aligns with Nutanix’s broader strategy to broaden its ecosystem and leverage its hyper‑converged platform for new workloads. By integrating with a leading VDI provider, Nutanix can offer customers a more complete solution for hybrid‑multicloud and virtual desktop delivery, potentially driving additional revenue and customer retention.
