On April 22, 2026, Okta announced that it would consolidate its Okta and Auth0 product and engineering organizations under the leadership of Ric Smith, President of Products and Technology. The move is intended to accelerate roadmap execution, deepen platform integration, and strengthen Okta’s position as the independent control plane for AI agent security. Both Okta and Auth0 will continue to serve their respective markets—Okta for workforce identity and Auth0 for developer and customer identity—while operating under a unified engineering umbrella.

Ric Smith, who joined Okta on October 1, 2025, brings a background in AI‑driven cybersecurity and enterprise SaaS from companies such as SentinelOne and Medallia. In a statement, Todd McKinnon, Okta’s CEO, said, "Ric has an incredible track record of scaling world‑class platforms, driving innovation in cybersecurity and enterprise SaaS, and leading global organizations through periods of hypergrowth. We have a moment in front of us to not just react to change, but to drive it. His background will be crucial as we embark on the next chapter of AI transformation for Okta and our customers. With his leadership, we are signaling our clear commitment to securing the AI agent lifecycle and accelerating the next phase of our technology strategy."

Shiv Ramji, President of Auth0, will depart Okta to pursue an external opportunity. Ramji has overseen Auth0’s growth to approximately $1 billion in annual recurring revenue and has been instrumental in positioning the platform for developer and customer identity. His departure coincides with the restructuring and signals a shift in focus toward the AI agent security strategy.

Financially, Okta reported Q1 FY2026 revenue of $688 million, a 12% year‑over‑year increase, and record operating profitability. In Q4 FY2025, revenue was $682 million, up 13% year‑over‑year, with a non‑GAAP operating margin of 25%. These results demonstrate the company’s ability to generate strong cash flow while investing in AI‑centric capabilities.

In his new role, Ric Smith said, "I'm thrilled to take on this new challenge and work alongside Okta's talented team to deliver unified identity solutions in a world where AI is rapidly changing how organizations need to protect themselves from threats. Okta's unparalleled platform is more critical than ever to every company's security posture, and I look forward to supporting our next chapter of growth." He added, "AI agents are evolving faster than any software before them, making traditional security models obsolete. Speed is now a given, but security is the differentiator. With this new blueprint, Okta is establishing the industry standard for the secure agentic enterprise."

The consolidation is part of Okta’s broader strategy to secure the AI agent lifecycle. By unifying product and engineering, the company aims to accelerate the delivery of integrated identity solutions that protect both human and non‑human identities. The move also positions Okta to capture growing demand for AI agent security, a market that Okta estimates could represent a significant portion of its future revenue streams.

With the restructuring, Okta will continue to serve workforce identity customers while Auth0 remains focused on developer and customer identity. The unified engineering umbrella is expected to streamline product development, reduce duplication, and enable faster innovation across both segments, reinforcing Okta’s leadership in identity and access management.
