Payoneer Global Inc. has announced the launch of local collection services in Indonesia and the expansion of its Mexican peso collection platform, enabling small and medium‑sized businesses to receive payments directly from local marketplaces and buyers. The new capabilities cover Shopee in Indonesia and Amazon Mexico, Walmart, and Mercado Libre in Mexico, giving Payoneer a foothold in two of the world’s fastest‑growing e‑commerce markets.

Indonesia is the largest e‑commerce market in Southeast Asia, accounting for more than half of ASEAN’s online business volume, while Mexico represents a key gateway to Latin America’s cross‑border trade. By adding these two corridors, Payoneer positions itself to capture a larger share of the growing volume of cross‑border transactions that flow through the region’s dominant marketplaces.

The expansion aligns with Payoneer’s core mission to empower SMBs with global payment tools. Local collection reduces friction, speeds settlement, and cuts costs for merchants that otherwise rely on costly cross‑border transfers. The move is also a logical extension of Payoneer’s recent record performance in 2024, when the company reported revenue of $720.9 million and a total transaction volume of $80 billion, underscoring the scalability of its platform and the demand for local payment solutions.

Payoneer’s customer base now spans nearly 2 million merchants in more than 190 countries, and the new services are expected to drive additional transaction volume and revenue by making it easier for merchants to tap into local demand. The company’s broader strategy includes regulatory approvals in India and the acquisition of Boundless, an Irish employer‑of‑record platform, further expanding its global footprint.

Derek Green, Payoneer’s Senior Vice President of Treasury and Payment Services, said, “Global trade is dynamic, and we are committed to empowering our customers to expand into fast‑growing markets. By adding local collection in Indonesia and Mexico, we give merchants direct access to the demand on Amazon Mexico, Walmart, Mercado Libre, and Shopee, helping them grow faster and more efficiently.”

The rollout of these services strengthens Payoneer’s value proposition for merchants seeking local payment options and positions the company to capture a larger share of cross‑border trade in high‑growth regions, reinforcing its strategy to focus on higher‑margin, larger‑customer segments.
