Rubrik announced a new Microsoft Defender integration and the launch of its Semantic AI Governance Engine (SAGE) at the RSAC 2026 conference in San Francisco on March 23, 2026. The announcement highlighted how the integration will accelerate identity‑attack response and how SAGE will provide real‑time governance for autonomous AI agents.

The Microsoft Defender integration is designed to reduce the time required to reverse malicious identity changes from days to hours. “Detection is only half of the battle. Organizations need the ability to quickly and surgically reverse malicious identity changes and completely restore their infrastructure. By combining Microsoft Defender’s threat detection with Rubrik Identity Resilience, we give security and IAM teams the power to move from a detected compromise to a trusted, recovered state in hours, instead of days,” said Anneka Gupta, Chief Product Officer at Rubrik.

SAGE is described as the first AI governance engine purpose‑built to secure and control autonomous agents in real time. “SAGE marks a pivotal moment in AI security as we shift the focus from if agents can be deployed to how they can be governed at scale. With SAGE, we can move beyond simple monitoring to a future where AI helps us govern AI agents. Now, we give CISOs the guardrails they need to let their AI agents run at full speed without compromising the security and integrity of the enterprise,” explained Devvret Rishi, General Manager of AI at Rubrik.

Rubrik’s Q4 FY2026 financial results provide context for the product launch. Subscription ARR reached $1.46 billion, up 34% year‑over‑year, driven by a record $115 million in net new subscription ARR. Subscription revenue grew 50% to $365 million, while Non‑GAAP gross margin expanded to 84% from 80% the previous year. Free cash flow rose to $70 million for the quarter and $238 million for the year, a ten‑fold increase from the prior year. Earnings per share were $0.04, beating the consensus estimate of a –$0.11 loss. Total revenue climbed 46.33% to $377.7 million, reflecting strong demand across core data‑protection and emerging AI‑security segments.

Guidance for the full year remains robust. Rubrik forecasts subscription ARR of $1.829–$1.839 billion, a 25–26% growth, and free cash flow of $265–$275 million. Management cited continued demand for AI‑governance and identity‑security solutions as key tailwinds, while acknowledging broader market volatility and AI‑disruption fears as headwinds. The company’s strategic pivot from traditional backup to AI‑centric security positions it favorably against competitors such as Dell, Veritas, and IBM Tivoli, and underscores its commitment to expanding high‑margin AI operations.

The launch of SAGE and the Microsoft Defender integration signals Rubrik’s intent to capture growing demand for AI governance and identity resilience, potentially accelerating future revenue growth and reinforcing its competitive edge in the cybersecurity market.
