Redwire Corporation announced that it has been selected for the Missile Defense Agency’s Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) indefinite‑delivery/indefinite‑quantity (IDIQ) contract, a $151 billion ceiling opportunity that will broaden the company’s presence in the U.S. homeland defense market.

The SHIELD IDIQ is a multi‑award program that provides the U.S. Army with a flexible, long‑term procurement framework for a range of missile‑defense technologies. Because it is an IDIQ, Redwire does not receive guaranteed revenue; it must win individual task orders to capture the contract’s value. Nonetheless, the contract places Redwire among the core partners that can supply space‑based infrastructure and airborne platforms to the Army’s layered‑defense architecture.

Redwire’s win follows the January 2025 acquisition of Edge Autonomy, which closed in the second quarter of 2025. The acquisition added advanced autonomous systems and software capabilities that complement Redwire’s existing space and defense technology portfolio. The company has reorganized its operations into two segments—Space and Defense Tech—to streamline focus and accelerate integration of the new assets.

In its most recent quarterly report, Redwire reported a $103.4 million revenue miss and a net loss of $41.2 million for Q3 2025, compared with a $21.0 million loss in the same period a year earlier. The company’s adjusted EBITDA fell to $(2.6) million from $2.4 million in Q3 2024, and its book‑to‑bill ratio remained healthy at 1.25. Liquidity stood at $89.3 million, giving Redwire a cushion to invest in new opportunities while it works to convert the SHIELD contract into realized revenue.

Peter Cannito, Chairman and CEO, said the company’s “proven space and defense technologies, including unmanned aerial systems, advanced sensors, maneuverable spacecraft platforms, and agent‑based modeling and simulation, position us to deliver resilient, multi‑domain solutions for national security missions.” He added that the SHIELD award “strengthens our competitive position and supports our goal of achieving sustainable margins in the coming years.”

Investors responded favorably to the announcement, citing the contract’s strategic importance and alignment with U.S. defense policy initiatives such as the “Golden Dome” missile‑defense program. The potential upside of the $151 billion ceiling, combined with Redwire’s expanding capabilities and recent acquisition, reinforced confidence in the company’s long‑term growth prospects.
