Roadzen Inc. announced that its drivebuddyAI platform has been granted a new patent in India for an AI‑powered in‑vehicle Integrated Dynamic Road Quality Assessment System and Method. The patent covers a system that fuses GNSS location data with IMU accelerometer readings to detect and geo‑map potholes, rough patches and other hazardous road conditions in real time, and verifies anomalies through video‑processed deep‑learning models.

The grant expands the data layer of drivebuddyAI, allowing every equipped vehicle to act as a node in a live sensing network that continuously updates a dynamic road quality map. Insurers, fleet operators and automotive OEMs can now access actionable safety and efficiency insights that can improve routing, reduce claim costs and enhance driver safety.

Roadzen’s CEO Rohan Malhotra said, “Road safety must be real‑time and predictive. This patent reflects our commitment to building intelligence that anticipates and prevents risk before it materializes — transforming vehicle fleets into a living, breathing infrastructure monitoring system.” He added, “Our drivebuddyAI pipeline is robust and scaling rapidly, with engagement now spanning virtually all major fleet operators in India, while we continue to gain meaningful recognition across the EU. We are not just improving safety we are redefining how the world understands and responds to risk on the road.”

The patent is the 15th granted to drivebuddyAI and comes on top of a portfolio that includes certifications such as AIS‑184, EU GSR 2144 and Euro NCAP 2026. By adding this new intellectual property, Roadzen strengthens its competitive moat and positions itself to capture additional revenue from its expanding customer base in India and beyond.

The announcement arrived amid broader financial headwinds for the company. Roadzen’s market capitalization is $86 million and its revenue for the last twelve months was $50.3 million, with the company not expected to be profitable this year. The patent grant, while a technological milestone, is one of several initiatives aimed at driving future growth in a challenging market environment.

Overall, the new patent enhances Roadzen’s ability to monetize its AI‑driven mobility safety platform and reinforces its leadership in the emerging road‑quality‑mapping market, even as the company navigates current financial pressures.
