Raytheon, a business unit of RTX Corporation, has finished a 26,000‑square‑foot expansion of its Redstone Missile Integration Facility in Huntsville, Alabama. The $115 million capital investment boosts the plant’s integration and delivery capacity by more than 50 percent, positioning the company to accelerate production of its Standard Missile family and other advanced weapon systems.

The expanded facility will support nine Standard Missile variants and additional advanced weapon systems, reinforcing RTX’s role in the U.S. defense industrial base. Huntsville’s strategic location and the facility’s proximity to key customers—such as the U.S. Missile Defense Agency and the U.S. Navy—enable faster integration and delivery, aligning with the Department of Defense’s push to increase munitions production and counter hypersonic threats.

The expansion also increases Raytheon’s workforce in the region to over 2,200 employees, underscoring the company’s commitment to job creation and local economic development. "This expansion marks an important step in our ability to deliver more missiles to our customers faster, and our investment here demonstrates our commitment to making that a reality," said Barbara Borgonovi, president of Naval Power at Raytheon.

"This expansion supports jobs in the community while strengthening the nation's defense capabilities," said U.S. Representative Dale Strong (AL‑5). "We are scaling up for the future," Michael Cox, the company’s Huntsville site director, added. "This important investment in the Huntsville region will help us meet the growing needs of our military customers and service members," said Raytheon President Phil Jasper, noting that the expansion will also ready operations to accelerate delivery of the company’s vital counter‑hypersonic solution.

RTX’s broader financial health supports this investment. The company reported a record $268 billion backlog by the end of Q4 2025 and strong quarterly sales growth, positioning it to absorb the capital outlay while maintaining profitability. The expansion aligns with RTX’s strategy to expand its defense manufacturing footprint and capitalize on rising defense spending driven by geopolitical tensions and the U.S. government’s focus on advanced missile systems.
