Scholastic Corporation announced a partnership with BlushCrunch Studio to publish a new line of books based on the Dandy’s World IP, a popular Roblox survival game. The first releases—a guidebook and a middle‑grade novel—are slated for spring 2027, followed by a graphic novel in fall 2027, all aimed at readers aged eight and up.
The partnership taps into Dandy’s World, a mascot‑horror survival game that has attracted over 6 billion visits and 90 million unique players since its alpha launch in June 2024. Scholastic secured world rights for graphic novels, middle‑grade novels, guidebooks, activity books, journals, and novelty titles, allowing the publisher to offer print, eBook, and audio editions in all languages.
"Dandy’s World is a unique game, there's really nothing like it out there in the marketplace and their fanbase is absolutely top‑tier. No playthrough of the game is the same, and everything from the dialogue to the adorable yet terrifying character designs is purposeful and well thought‑out. We're looking to bring that same level of detail and passion to our publishing, and are thrilled to work closely with their team to create what I know will be an immersive, exciting collection of books," said Michael Petranek, Editorial Director of Scholastic Trade Publishing. Qwel, the creator of Dandy’s World, added, "I grew up going to the Scholastic Book Fair, so getting to create Dandy’s World books with them is so surreal. There are SO many stories to tell in the Dandy’s World universe, and we've only just scratched the surface. I've been working with Scholastic and some super talented writers to create fun stories that I hope many fans will enjoy."
Scholastic’s recent financial performance underscores the strategic fit of the deal. Q4 FY2025 revenue reached $508.3 million, up 7 % year‑over‑year, while full‑year FY2025 revenue totaled $1,625.5 million, a 2 % increase from FY2024. In Q1 FY2026, revenue fell 5 % to $225.6 million, reflecting a temporary dip as the company realigns its portfolio. The Dandy’s World partnership aligns with Scholastic’s broader strategy to diversify revenue streams and capitalize on high‑growth IPs in the digital‑to‑print pipeline.
Existing Dandy’s World merchandise—toys, apparel, and other products—are already sold through retailers such as Five Below, Hot Topic, and GameStop. The new book line is expected to deepen fan engagement and expand merchandising opportunities across additional formats.
The announcement comes amid a broader trend of publishers adapting Roblox IPs into books and other media. By securing a partnership with a studio that built the game, Scholastic positions itself among leaders in gaming‑based publishing, potentially boosting its market share in the youth segment.
The partnership signals Scholastic’s commitment to expanding into the gaming‑driven youth market, offering new revenue streams and reinforcing its position as a leading publisher of children’s content worldwide.
