SEI Investments Company announced that its subsidiary, SEI Trust Company, will act as trustee for four newly launched collective investment trusts (CITs) created by Canadian asset manager Mackenzie Investments. The partnership allows Mackenzie’s Global Quantitative Equity strategies to be offered to U.S. institutional investors through the CIT structure, giving defined‑contribution and defined‑benefit plans access to a data‑driven equity approach that has historically delivered alpha while managing risk.

SEI’s CIT platform already manages more than $260 billion in assets under management as of September 30 2025, making it the largest independent trustee in the U.S. market. The company also oversees, advises, or administers roughly $1.8 trillion in assets across all business lines. Mackenzie Investments reported approximately $244 billion CAD in assets under management as of December 31 2025, underscoring the scale of the partnership and the potential for significant fee revenue for both firms.

The collaboration fits SEI’s broader strategy of partnering with external asset managers to broaden its product offering and capture institutional demand for alternative investment vehicles. By leveraging SEI’s operational scale and fiduciary capabilities, the firm can support Mackenzie’s quantitative strategies while reinforcing its platform moat and expanding its institutional client base in the U.S. CIT market, which has grown as investors seek cost‑efficient, flexible vehicles.

For U.S. institutional investors, the new CITs provide a streamlined, low‑cost channel to access Mackenzie’s Global Quantitative Equity strategies, which combine advanced data science with human insight. The partnership also positions Mackenzie to deepen its presence in the U.S. market, offering a structured vehicle that aligns with the regulatory and fiduciary requirements of retirement plans.

"We’re pleased to now offer U.S. institutions the opportunity to access proven Mackenzie Global Quantitative Equity strategies through our CITs," said Chris Adey, Head of U.S. Institutional Sales at Mackenzie Investments. "Establishing CIT vehicles further reinforces our commitment to serving U.S. institutional consultants and allocators across the spectrum as well as the evolving needs of U.S. institutional investors." Sean Lawlor, Senior Vice President and Head of SEI’s Traditional Investment Managers business, added, "Our partnership with Mackenzie raises the bar on operational excellence and fiduciary service as they expand their institutional business in the U.S. SEI Trust Company will help Mackenzie empower institutional investors, allocators, consultants, and recordkeepers with investment options to help achieve their goals with greater confidence and efficiency."
