SLB, Geminus AI, and Bapco Energies have announced a partnership to deploy physics‑native artificial intelligence across Bahrain’s upstream production system. The collaboration will combine Geminus AI’s physics‑informed AI platform with SLB’s Pipesim steady‑state multiphase flow simulator and Bapco’s extensive field data to deliver near‑instant optimization for the entire upstream infrastructure.

The physics‑native AI solution will integrate real‑time field data from Bapco’s network of wells and pipelines with Pipesim’s advanced multiphase flow modeling. By embedding physical laws into the machine‑learning framework, the system can generate accurate, scientifically consistent predictions that enable operators to run “what‑if” scenarios and system‑wide optimizations in real time.

The partnership comes as SLB reports a mixed financial picture. In its most recent quarter, the company posted an earnings per share of $0.78, beating analyst expectations of $0.74 but falling short of the $0.92 recorded a year earlier. Revenue rose 3.84% year‑over‑year to $36.9 billion, driven by growth in the Digital & Integration segment, while gross profit and operating profit declined due to higher input costs and a shift toward lower‑margin service contracts. Management highlighted that the full‑year 2026 revenue guidance of $36.9 billion to $37.7 billion reflects confidence in the integration of ChampionX and the expansion of digital solutions, while adjusted EBITDA is expected to remain in the $8.6 billion to $9.1 billion range.

Strategically, the deal positions SLB as a leading technology partner for upstream operators in the Gulf, a region where digital transformation and energy efficiency are high priorities. Bahrain’s commitment to Net‑Zero by 2060 aligns with the partnership’s focus on reducing emissions through optimized production and smarter asset management. The collaboration also supports Bapco’s goal of leveraging data analytics to improve operational efficiency across its thousands of wells and kilometers of surface network.

Management emphasized that the partnership is part of a broader push to monetize AI and digital capabilities across SLB’s portfolio. The company’s recent acquisition of ChampionX is expected to contribute approximately $1.8 billion in incremental revenue in 2026, and the new AI platform is anticipated to generate additional revenue streams as it is rolled out to other operators in the region and beyond.
