Semtech announced a new 224 Gbps per‑lane transimpedance amplifier and Mach‑Zehnder Modulator driver family, CEI‑224G‑Linear and LPO‑MSA compliant, that enables 800 G, 1.6 T, and 3.2 T transceivers for AI/ML clusters, hyperscale data centers, and next‑generation cloud infrastructure.

The family eliminates the power‑intensive DSP from optical modules, providing integrated on‑chip equalization, high linearity, low noise, and supporting a range of host interfaces from compact NPO/CPO to longer LRO/LPO/XPO trace lengths.

The launch positions Semtech to capture a market projected to double from $5 billion in 2024 to over $10 billion in 2026, according to LightCounting’s January 2025 report. The new family is available immediately, with additional variants slated for April 2026.

The product launch aligns with Semtech’s broader strategy to serve the AI‑driven data‑center market. In Q1 FY2026, the company reported a 22 % year‑over‑year revenue increase to $251.1 million, driven by strong demand in its infrastructure and industrial segments, and a 53.5 % non‑GAAP gross margin, reflecting pricing power and cost control.

Management highlighted that the new linear‑optics solution will help customers reduce power consumption and simplify system design, reinforcing Semtech’s competitive position against peers such as Broadcom and Cisco. CEO Hong Hou noted that the company’s “solid first quarter results” reflect “improving demand trends, strong business fundamentals and disciplined execution in a dynamic environment.”

With the launch, Semtech is poised to capture a growing share of the linear‑optics market, while its recent earnings momentum signals confidence in sustaining growth and maintaining profitability.
