SMX (Security Matters) PLC, M2i Global Inc., and Volato Group Inc. entered into a 12‑month, non‑binding Strategic Collaboration Agreement that will pilot SMX’s molecular‑marking and digital‑traceability technology on critical‑mineral shipments.

The pilot will ship a controlled batch of critical minerals from Western Australia to the United States, integrating SMX’s invisible chemical “barcode” and blockchain‑based digital twin with M2i’s CAINO digital backbone and Metals Marketplace to provide end‑to‑end custody assurance, physical integrity controls, and digital evidence at key custody events.

SMX’s financial statements show negative profitability and high debt levels, while M2i Global remains a pre‑revenue business with significant operating losses. Volato Group, which is in the process of merging with M2i, has reported recent profits but a decline in quarterly revenue. Investors reacted with concern over SMX’s financial health, reflecting the company’s negative profitability and high debt.

Management emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership. Major General (Ret) Alberto Rosende, CEO of M2i, said, “This Collaboration Agreement with SMX is a first step to strengthen M2i’s ability to make trusted mineral supply chains operational, not theoretical. Together, we are aiming to align physical assurance, digital custody evidence, and marketplace execution into a single, scalable model that can support U.S. industrial resilience and national security supply chains.” Oliver Buckle‑Wright, VP Client Success at SMX, added, “SMX is focused on enabling trusted commerce through verifiable supply chain data and integrity.”

The collaboration positions SMX to capture a share of a projected $320 billion critical‑minerals market, but the company’s financial challenges underscore the need for continued cost discipline and successful commercialization of its technology to realize the partnership’s full potential.
