SunPower announced a national battery storage initiative that will make home battery systems more accessible to American families. The program partners with lifestyle media platform The Cool Down, consumer energy platform Palmetto, and Enphase Energy, the manufacturer of the IQ Battery 10C, to provide premium battery solutions with flexible financing.

The initiative addresses two key barriers to battery adoption: consumer understanding and upfront cost. The Cool Down will educate homeowners on available options, Palmetto’s LightReach financing will eliminate the upfront cost hurdle, and Enphase will supply the IQ Battery 10C, known for its compact design, lithium iron phosphate cells, and a 15‑year limited warranty.

The program is available in all 45 states where SunPower operates, with priority access for existing customers. By adding battery storage to its residential solar portfolio, SunPower seeks to increase the value of its solar installations, improve customer resilience during grid outages, and capture a growing market for home energy independence.

The initiative fits into SunPower’s broader strategy to differentiate itself through integrated technology and superior customer service in a highly commoditized market. The company’s recent record Q4 2025 revenue of $88.5 million, up from $70 million in Q3 2025, and operating income of $3.5 million, demonstrate the financial strength that supports this expansion.

SunPower’s Q4 2025 gross margin of 57 %—up from 48 % in Q3 2025—reflects the company’s ability to maintain pricing power while scaling new product lines. Management expects Q1 2026 revenue to be around $84 million, indicating continued profitability as the company rolls out the battery initiative.

Steve Erickson, EVP of SunPower’s Battery Division, said the initiative “removes two barriers to battery storage deployment—understanding the options available and being able to afford one of them.” CEO T.J. Rodgers added that the partnership with Palmetto “makes the high‑quality Enphase 10C battery affordable for more homeowners.”

The battery initiative is a major operational milestone that positions SunPower to capture a larger share of the expanding home energy storage market, driven by grid instability, rising energy costs, and consumer demand for energy independence.
