Sequans Communications announced on February 25 2026 that it will showcase its latest 5G eRedCap platforms—Monarch 3 and Calliope 3—at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, which runs from March 2 to March 5.

Monarch 3 delivers 5G NR eRedCap half‑duplex capability with 4G fallback, targeting smart‑metering, healthcare, and low‑data‑rate industrial applications. Calliope 3 supports both full‑ and half‑duplex 5G NR eRedCap, covering FDD and TDD bands, and is aimed at fleet management, security systems, and 5G‑only networks operating in full‑duplex mode.

In addition to the new chip families, Sequans highlighted its Iris RF transceiver, a high‑performance, highly integrated software‑defined radio platform designed for consumer, industrial, enterprise, and defense markets.

The announcement signals Sequans’ continued push into next‑generation 5G IoT, expanding its product portfolio and reinforcing its position as a leading fabless cellular semiconductor provider outside China. The new platforms and transceiver broaden the company’s addressable market and accelerate revenue growth from high‑margin licensing and module sales.

Sequans reported Q4 2025 revenue of $6.96 million, a 37.0% decline from $11.05 million in Q4 2024. The company posted a net loss of $87.13 million and a gross margin of 37.7%, down from 67.4% the previous year. Earnings per share were –$1.19 versus an estimate of –$0.52. The margin compression was driven by a shift in revenue mix toward product sales and provisions for slow‑moving inventory.

Management guidance for 2026 sets a revenue target of $40–$45 million and a cash‑flow breakeven in Q4 2026. Sequans also maintains a Bitcoin treasury valued at $187.1 million as of February 10 2026 and has recently launched an IP licensing and engineering services business in September 2025.

CEO Georges Karam said, "MWC 2026 is the perfect stage to showcase how the IoT industry is accelerating toward 5G, and our new Monarch 3 and Calliope 3 eRedCap platforms are built precisely for this next phase."

Renesas announced its acquisition of Sequans in September 2023, but the deal has not yet closed; Sequans remains an independent entity.

The product launch positions Sequans to capture longer device lifecycles, enable seamless network transition, and expand into defense and aerospace markets through the Iris transceiver. While recent financial results highlight margin compression and revenue decline, the company’s focus on high‑margin licensing, new revenue streams, and strategic product development underscores its long‑term growth strategy.
