SS&C ALPS Advisors announced the launch of the ALPS Nautilus SMR, Nuclear & Technology ETF (NYSE Arca: SMRF), which began trading on February 18 2026. The fund targets the nuclear and small‑modular‑reactor (SMR) value chain while adding a curated artificial‑intelligence and technology sleeve capped at 25%.

The ETF seeks to combine long‑term structural growth from AI‑driven electricity demand with power generation from nuclear energy, offering investors a single allocation across the full nuclear lifecycle. Management highlighted that the strategy pairs a “compute + firm power” approach, integrating AI enablers with SMR ecosystem exposure to capture opportunities in data centers, transportation and grid infrastructure. Ryan Mischker, Senior Vice President of Portfolio Management and Research, said, “Artificial intelligence is accelerating global demand for resilient, always‑on power, and SMRF offers investors a comprehensive way to participate across the nuclear and technology ecosystem.” He added, “At its core, the ETF expresses a ‘compute + firm power’ strategy, combining AI enablers with nuclear and SMR ecosystem exposure in a single allocation.”

Michael Cronan, President and CIO of Nautilus ETFs LLC, commented, “We are thrilled to partner with SS&C ALPS Advisors on this offering as the shift toward modular nuclear energy accelerates.” He further envisioned, “We envision a future where SMRs and micro‑reactors power a significant share of the grid, data centers and transportation, enabled by next‑generation, waste‑free nuclear technologies.”

The launch expands SS&C’s investment‑management footprint and introduces a new product line that could generate fee income for the ALPS Advisors division, which managed more than $33 billion in assets as of December 31 2025. The move aligns with SS&C’s broader strategy of leveraging its technology platform to create new revenue streams beyond its core fund‑administration services. The ETF is actively managed, seeks a blend of capital appreciation and income, and employs an income‑focused, risk‑managed options overlay to enhance returns.

SS&C ALPS Advisors’ entry into the nuclear‑technology ETF space signals a strategic pivot toward emerging energy and technology themes, positioning the firm to capture growth in both the clean‑energy transition and the expanding AI‑driven power market. The product’s dual focus on SMRs and AI technology reflects a broader industry trend toward integrating advanced energy solutions with digital infrastructure, potentially creating a new niche for fee‑generating investment products.
