AT&T has broadened its Guarantee program to include its fixed‑wireless Internet Air service and to provide free Internet Backup for customers who bundle AT&T Fiber with AT&T Wireless. The new coverage is effective March 5 2026 and applies to millions of households, adding nearly 50 million additional homes to the program’s reach.
The free Internet Backup feature activates automatically when a fiber outage occurs, allowing customers to switch to a wireless connection without additional cost. The backup is designed to maintain service continuity for Fiber‑Wireless bundles, giving users peace of mind that their home internet will remain online even if the primary fiber line fails.
By extending the guarantee to Internet Air, AT&T addresses long‑standing concerns about the reliability of fixed‑wireless services. The move also supports the company’s convergence strategy, which bundles wireless, fiber, and fixed‑wireless offerings to create stickier customer relationships and higher lifetime value.
Management highlighted the program’s role in building customer confidence: "Customers have been clear about what they want from home internet: performance they can trust—and peace of mind when something unexpected happens. Expanding the AT&T Guarantee to include Internet Air, plus guaranteeing Internet Backup at no extra cost are both meaningful steps to deliver this peace of mind," said Jenifer Robertson, executive vice president and GM of AT&T Mass Markets.
The expansion is expected to strengthen AT&T’s competitive position against rivals such as Verizon and T‑Mobile, and to support the company’s broader goal of accelerating fiber and wireless subscriber growth through bundled, reliable connectivity solutions.
