Teledyne Gas Measurement Instruments (GMI), a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies, has entered a strategic partnership with Southern Cross, a Sparus Company, to distribute its full portfolio of gas and leak detection solutions to gas utility customers in the southeastern United States.

The agreement allows GMI to leverage Southern Cross’s regional service support while maintaining its existing U.S. service center in Cypress, Texas. Southern Cross will provide local expertise and field support, enabling faster access to Teledyne’s advanced detection technologies—including the GS700, GS500, GT‑Series, PS200, and the GDCloud platform—for utilities seeking to improve safety, operational efficiency, and data accuracy.

The partnership is positioned to capture a larger share of the growing gas utilities market, where demand for reliable leak detection and monitoring is rising as utilities work to reduce emissions and enhance infrastructure safety. The southeastern region, which holds the largest market share of the U.S. natural gas distribution market, is experiencing increased demand driven by data‑center growth and new gas‑fired power plants, creating a tailwind for advanced detection solutions.

"We are pleased to offer our advanced detection solutions through Southern Cross. This partnership strengthens our ability to support U.S. gas utilities with local expertise, reliable service, and proven technologies," said Shannon Sanders, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Americas, Teledyne Gas and Flame Detection. "Partnering with Teledyne GMI as an authorized distributor brings together a combined 200 years of utility experience, so crews can work more safely, and customers get faster access to the safety technology they rely on," added Jody Boyles, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, Sparus. "With Sparus’ national field footprint, we’ll put Teledyne GMI portable gas detectors in technicians’ hands quickly with the training, service and coverage gas utilities expect," said Jeff Schechtman, Chief Operating Officer at Sparus.

The collaboration enhances GMI’s service and support capabilities in a key growth region, while Southern Cross benefits from access to a portfolio of high‑performance detection instruments and a cloud‑based data platform that can improve field operations. Combined, the two companies bring 200 years of utility experience and a strong track record of service excellence, positioning them to meet the increasing safety and emissions‑reduction demands of the southeastern U.S. gas utility market.

The partnership underscores Teledyne GMI’s strategy to expand its footprint through selective distribution agreements and leverages Southern Cross’s long history of providing utility field services since 1946, reinforcing the company’s commitment to delivering reliable, data‑driven solutions to utilities across the region.
