TOMI Secures UK Regulatory Approval for Binary Ionization Technology, Expanding Market Access

TOMI Environmental Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: TOMZ) announced that the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in Great Britain has granted official authorization for its Binary Ionization Technology (BIT) solution and SteraMist iHP disinfection equipment. The approval covers England, Scotland, and Wales under Regulation 528/2012 GB and includes a separate authorization for Northern Ireland under Regulation (EU) No. 528/2012, with authorization numbers GB‑2016‑1042 and NI‑2026‑1350 respectively.

The BIT platform uses a low‑percentage hydrogen peroxide feed to generate ionized hydrogen peroxide (iHP) mist, which is effective against a broad spectrum of pathogens on hard, non‑porous surfaces. The HSE approval authorizes the technology for room fogging and handheld direct‑spray applications in healthcare, industrial, commercial, hospitality, and institutional settings, thereby opening the entire UK market to TOMI’s product line.

This regulatory milestone removes a significant barrier to entry in a mature and high‑value market. TOMI’s COO, Elissa J. Shane, said the approval “enhances our market footprint and reinforces our commitment to providing innovative solutions that meet rigorous compliance, safety, and efficacy standards.” The company is also pursuing approval under the EU Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR), which could extend its reach to the rest of the European Union later in 2026.

Financially, TOMI has reported mixed results in recent periods. The company posted a 5% increase in annual revenue for FY 2024, reaching $7.7 million, but recorded a GAAP operating loss of $4.105 million and a net loss of $4.477 million. Gross margin for FY 2024 was 46%, down from 58% the previous year, reflecting pricing pressure and investment in new product development. The UK approval is expected to generate new sales opportunities that could help improve revenue growth and margin profile in the coming quarters.

Investor sentiment has been positive following the announcement. Retail sentiment on Stocktwits shifted from neutral to bullish, and analysts have noted the approval as a key driver of the company’s growth prospects. The regulatory clearance is viewed as a strategic win that could accelerate TOMI’s expansion plans in the UK and, once the EU BPR approval is secured, across the broader European market.

The company will continue to monitor regulatory developments and pursue additional approvals while focusing on scaling its sales and service capabilities in the UK. The approval positions TOMI to capitalize on growing demand for rapid, effective disinfection solutions in high‑risk environments, potentially improving its financial trajectory in the medium term.
