TOYO Co., Ltd. announced the purchase of IQM’s 20‑qubit Radiance quantum computer system, the first enterprise quantum system deployed in Japan. The system will be available in both on‑premises and cloud environments and is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2026.

The acquisition marks a milestone for Japan’s quantum agenda, positioning TOYO as a pioneer in industrial quantum computing. It aligns with the national quantum strategy that aims to generate 50 trillion yen in quantum‑driven production value by 2030 and to establish 10 million domestic users of quantum technology.

TOYO plans to integrate the Radiance system with its existing high‑performance computing infrastructure, creating a hybrid quantum‑HPC platform that will accelerate complex problem solving in areas such as material science, process optimization, and quality control for its solar manufacturing operations. The move also supports Japan’s workforce development goals by training a new generation of quantum‑aware engineers. IQM’s deployment in Japan is its third installation in the Asia‑Pacific region, following systems in South Korea and Taiwan.

Jan Goetz, CEO and co‑founder of IQM, said, “Leading enterprises are building real quantum capabilities by owning the infrastructure, operating it, and growing with it. TOYO’s commitment to this approach represents an important step in realizing Japan’s national quantum strategy based on IQM’s leading quantum computing technology.” Toshiya Kohno, President and CEO of TOYO, added, “Quantum technology is an essential strategic field for future economic growth, especially for the new era of Japanese manufacturing. With the cooperation of IQM, we will promote the social implementation of quantum technologies in Japan ahead of the world.”

The financial terms of the purchase have not been disclosed. The system will be delivered by the end of 2026, with both on‑premises and cloud deployment options available to support TOYO’s diverse operational needs.
