Travelers Companies announced the launch of its AI Claim Assistant on February 18, 2026. The fully agentic voice service, built with OpenAI’s model capabilities and APIs, is designed to handle auto‑damage claim calls and will later expand to other lines of business.

The assistant uses advanced language and speech recognition to guide claimants through the filing process, reducing manual intervention and speeding up claim resolution. Travelers has invested more than $13 billion in technology since 2016, including $1.5 billion in AI and technology initiatives in 2025 alone, and the new tool is expected to lower expense ratios and support margin expansion.

The launch aligns with Travelers’ broader strategy to leverage AI across underwriting and claims. In Q4 2025 the company reported net income of $2.496 billion on revenue of $12.43 billion, with a combined ratio of 80.2%. The AI Claim Assistant is part of a portfolio of AI tools that also include fraud detection and pricing optimization, and is expected to contribute to cost control and margin expansion.

"The technology behind our AI Claim Assistant is remarkably dynamic and responsive, and early customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. This innovative service provides our customers with a claim filing experience that's convenient, efficient and effective," said Nick Seminara, Executive Vice President and Chief Claim Officer. Alan Schnitzer, Chairman and CEO, added, "We are pleased to report excellent fourth quarter and full year results driven by strong performance across both underwriting and investments."

Travelers’ investment in AI signals confidence that technology will remain a competitive advantage. The assistant will free up call‑center staff for more complex tasks, supporting workforce transformation and positioning the company to compete with peers that are also adopting AI in claims processing.
