TotalEnergies has signed two long‑term power purchase agreements that will deliver 1 GW of solar capacity—equivalent to 28 TWh of renewable electricity over 15 years—to power Google’s data centers in Texas. The agreements cover the company’s Wichita solar farm (805 MWp) and Mustang Creek solar farm (195 MWp), both slated to begin construction in the second quarter of 2026.

The deal marks the largest renewable‑PPA volume ever signed by TotalEnergies in the United States and represents a key milestone in the company’s 2030 goal of reaching 100 TWh of net renewable electricity production. By securing a 15‑year commitment from a global technology leader, TotalEnergies expands its integrated power portfolio, diversifies its energy mix beyond hydrocarbons, and strengthens its position in the U.S. renewable market.

For Google, the agreement is a critical component of its 24/7 carbon‑free energy target and its broader strategy to meet the escalating electricity demand of data centers driven by artificial‑intelligence workloads. The new contracts provide a stable, low‑carbon supply that supports the company’s decarbonization goals while adding a high‑profile, high‑volume customer to TotalEnergies’ portfolio. The deal also complements other Google renewable agreements, including a 1.2 GW commitment with Clearway Energy Group, underscoring the company’s coordinated effort to secure large volumes of clean energy.

The Texas market, governed by the deregulated ERCOT system, has become a hotspot for renewable development and trading. The partnership reflects a growing trend of energy companies collaborating with large technology firms to meet their substantial and increasing energy demands, especially as AI continues to drive consumption. The project’s location in Texas also offers grid reliability benefits and opportunities for local renewable integration.

Beyond the corporate benefits, the Wichita and Mustang Creek projects are expected to create local jobs, generate tax revenue, and support community development in the regions where the farms will be built. The projects illustrate how large‑scale renewable development can deliver both economic and environmental value to local stakeholders.

Marc‑Antoine Pignon, Vice President of Renewables U.S. for TotalEnergies, said the agreements “highlight our strategy to deliver tailored renewable energy solutions that support the decarbonization goals of digital players, particularly data centers.” Will Conkling, Director of Clean Energy and Power at Google, added that the partnership “provides a strong, stable, affordable grid that is essential as we expand our infrastructure.”
