TotalEnergies has entered into a 10‑year power purchase agreement with papermaker SWM to supply 800 gigawatt‑hours of renewable electricity across the company’s three French sites, with the contract taking effect in January 2026.

The agreement is a key element of TotalEnergies’ integrated power strategy, which aims to reach 35 GW of installed renewable capacity by the end of 2025 and 100 TWh of net electricity production by 2030. By locking in 800 GWh of green output, the company strengthens its Clean Firm Power offering—combining renewable generation with flexible assets to deliver firm, low‑carbon power to industrial customers.

For SWM, the deal covers roughly half of its French electricity consumption and underpins its commitment to cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2033. The long‑term, predictable pricing also provides cost certainty for an energy‑intensive industry, enhancing its competitiveness and sustainability credentials.

Financially, the contract delivers a stable, long‑term revenue stream that diversifies TotalEnergies’ earnings beyond oil and gas. The predictable cash flow aligns with the company’s disciplined capital allocation and shareholder return strategy, while the 800 GWh commitment accelerates the growth of its renewable portfolio.

Sophie Chevalier, Senior Vice President of Flexible Power & Integration, said the deal “demonstrates TotalEnergies’ ability to offer tailor‑made solutions that combine renewable and flexible assets for industrial customers.” SWM’s Vice President and CIO Giuliano Scilio added that the agreement “secures half of our French electricity needs from renewable sources for the next decade, giving us cost predictability and strengthening our ability to offer truly sustainable solutions.”

The contract joins a series of similar long‑term agreements TotalEnergies has signed with major corporate clients—including Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Saint‑Gobain—highlighting the company’s growing reputation as a reliable supplier of firm, low‑carbon power to high‑energy‑intensive customers.
