Twilio and Dutch telecom operator KPN have announced a partnership that will deliver nationwide Rich Communication Services (RCS) Business Messaging across all major mobile networks in the Netherlands. The deal, unveiled at Mobile World Congress, combines Twilio’s developer‑first messaging platform with Google’s RCS for Business infrastructure to give brands secure, interactive, and measurable messaging at scale.
The partnership gives Twilio a fully enabled RCS channel in a country that has recently achieved nationwide operator support for RCS. With verified sender identity, images, carousels, and action buttons, the new channel allows businesses to engage customers with richer content while maintaining 100 % reach through automatic SMS fallback.
KPN’s status as a national operator gives Twilio immediate access to millions of mobile users, accelerating the adoption of RCS for Business and expanding Twilio’s addressable market. The collaboration also strengthens Twilio’s competitive moat by combining its low‑code platform with Google’s RCS ecosystem, enabling a secure solution that can be deployed without code changes.
"Nationwide operator coverage is a significant step forward for RCS for Business in the Netherlands. Together with KPN and Google, we are creating the foundation for large‑scale adoption, giving brands the opportunity to engage millions of consumers with secure, branded and interactive messaging as device support continues to expand," said David Copsey, RVP of International Wholesale & Carrier Relations at Twilio.
The announcement is part of Twilio’s broader strategy to become the customer‑experience layer of the internet. By expanding its RCS footprint in a key European market, Twilio positions itself as a leading provider of next‑generation business messaging and signals confidence in the continued growth of rich, secure communication channels.
Analysts have noted the partnership as a catalyst for renewed investor interest. TD Cowen upgraded Twilio to a “Buy” rating from “Hold” on March 2, 2026, citing the partnership’s potential to accelerate RCS adoption and complement Twilio’s AI‑focused product portfolio.
