Textron Aviation announced on April 21 2026 that Starlink high‑speed connectivity is now available as an aftermarket upgrade for the Cessna Citation Ascend, the newest model in the Citation 560XL series.

The upgrade uses Starlink’s low‑Earth‑orbit satellite network, providing reliable broadband over land, water, and remote areas. The Starlink Aviation Kit includes an antenna, power supply unit, and wireless access point, and can be installed at Textron’s North American service centers or international locations.

The FAA issued a Supplemental Type Certificate authorizing the installation, and the kit is also EASA‑certified for the 560XL fleet, giving European operators a compliant solution.

Textron’s strategy to offer multiple connectivity options—Starlink and its existing Gogo 5G—positions the company to capture the growing satellite‑based in‑flight connectivity market and to meet customer demand for uninterrupted, high‑bandwidth service.

Management emphasized that the move is a direct response to customer feedback. Brian Rohloff, senior vice president of Customer Support, said, “Customer feedback continues to shape how we enhance the ownership experience and expanding Starlink availability for the Citation Ascend and 560XL series is a direct response to customer demand. Offering Starlink as an aftermarket option gives customers flexibility to equip their aircraft with the connectivity solution that best supports their missions and reinforces our commitment to listening and delivering a best‑in‑class aviation experience.”

The new connectivity offering comes as Textron Aviation’s aftermarket revenue grew 6% in 2025 to $2.03 billion, and the company reported Q4 2025 revenues of $1.7 billion, up $467 million from Q4 2024, with segment profit of $208 million, up $108 million YoY. Full‑year 2025 revenues reached $6 billion, up 13% from 2024, and segment profit hit $694 million, up 23% YoY. The Starlink upgrade is expected to add to aftermarket revenue and enhance customer satisfaction, potentially driving future aircraft sales and loyalty.

By expanding its connectivity portfolio, Textron Aviation strengthens its competitive position in the midsize business jet market, where reliable in‑flight internet is increasingly viewed as a standard feature rather than a luxury. The addition of Starlink complements the existing Gogo 5G offering, giving operators a choice that can be tailored to mission requirements and geographic coverage.

The move also signals Textron’s broader commitment to technology‑driven customer experience enhancements, reinforcing its focus on delivering high‑quality, mission‑critical services that differentiate its aircraft in a crowded market.
