United Airlines and JetBlue Airways announced a new phase of their Blue Sky partnership that allows customers to book eligible itineraries on either carrier’s website or mobile app using cash, miles, or points. The expansion, effective February 10, 2026, extends the collaboration beyond the reciprocal loyalty earning and redemption program that launched in October 2025.

The move positions United to tap into JetBlue’s leisure‑focused customer base and to broaden its network reach into the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America—markets where JetBlue has a strong presence. By integrating JetBlue’s inventory into United’s direct sales channels, the airline reduces its reliance on third‑party Global Distribution Systems and increases the share of traffic that arrives through its own website and app, a key component of United’s broader strategy to grow direct bookings and improve margin‑sensitive revenue streams.

Customers now enjoy greater booking flexibility: they can search for flights on either airline, choose to pay with cash or redeem miles or points, and receive the same loyalty benefits that apply to the partner’s network. This seamless experience is expected to increase load factors on both carriers, as travelers who previously had to book through a separate platform can now book directly, potentially boosting ancillary revenue from seat selection, baggage, and in‑flight services.

United’s management highlighted the strategic value of the partnership. Andrew Nocella, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer, said the expansion “provides customers with more choice, flexibility, and a better overall booking experience when traveling to their favorite destinations.” Marty St. George, JetBlue president, added that the move “gives our members even more ability to earn and redeem points to exciting destinations around the world, while United customers gain access to JetBlue’s network across the Americas and Europe.”

The partnership also includes future enhancements such as reciprocal elite status benefits slated for spring 2026 and the migration of United’s MileagePlus Travel to JetBlue’s Paisly platform later in the year. JetBlue will also grant United access to slots at JFK’s new Terminal 6, starting as early as 2027, for up to seven daily roundtrips, further expanding United’s presence in a key U.S. hub.

Industry analysts view the expansion as part of a broader trend toward airline collaboration that reduces distribution costs and improves customer experience. While no immediate market reaction data is available, the partnership is expected to strengthen United’s competitive position and support its long‑term growth objectives.
