UFP Industries announced the purchase of the operating assets of John Rock, Inc., a pallet manufacturer headquartered in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, for approximately $48 million. The deal adds three production sites—Coatesville, Mifflintown and Bowling Green—to UFP’s PalletOne network, while the Dilwyn, Virginia, facility remains with the seller. The transaction brings roughly 250 employees into UFP Packaging and is projected to generate about $82 million in annual sales.
The acquisition is part of UFP’s strategy to strengthen its core packaging business and expand its footprint in the Northeast. "This acquisition is fundamentally about strengthening our core packaging business and expanding our footprint in a region where we see long‑term opportunity," said Will Schwartz, Chief Executive Officer of UFP Industries. By integrating John Rock’s well‑established operations into PalletOne, UFP aims to unlock value through operational synergies and scale benefits, enhancing service levels for customers across the region.
UFP’s recent Q1 2026 earnings missed expectations, with earnings per share of $0.89 versus an estimate of $1.15 and revenue of $1.46 billion versus an estimate of $1.52 billion, a decline of 8.4 % year‑over‑year. The company cited macroeconomic headwinds and competitive pressures as the primary reasons for the shortfall. The John Rock acquisition is intended to offset these challenges by adding new sales and capacity, positioning UFP to better serve its customer base and improve long‑term profitability.
"John Rock has built a well‑established pallet manufacturing operation with strong customer relationships and experienced teams. Bringing this business into PalletOne enhances our ability to serve customers across the northeast and positions us to unlock value through operational synergies and scale," added Schwartz. Scott Worthington, President of UFP Packaging, noted that "John Rock is a well‑known name in the northeast pallet market, with a strong team and a diverse customer base. We are excited to welcome their employees to PalletOne and look forward to building on the foundation they have established as we integrate the business into our network."
