UFP Industries’ Deckorators division announced that it has acquired the operating assets of MoistureShield decking, a well‑known brand in the outdoor living market, on April 6 2026. The deal adds a new Arkansas facility that brings traditional composite‑decking expertise to Deckorators’ portfolio, complementing its existing Surestone mineral‑based technology.

The acquisition includes manufacturing assets, certain product brands, and proprietary CoolDeck composite‑decking technology. The Arkansas plant will allow Deckorators to double its overall wood‑plastic composite (WPC) capacity to $200 million by 2027, a target that will be achieved through this investment and additional capital expenditures at the acquired location.

Strategically, the transaction expands Deckorators’ production footprint and strengthens its product mix, positioning the company to serve dealers, contractors, and homeowners with a broader range of high‑performance decking options. The addition of CoolDeck technology—designed to reduce heat absorption compared to standard composite decking—provides a technical advantage that complements Surestone’s mineral‑based platform. The move also aligns with UFP’s broader strategy of shifting from commodity lumber to value‑added products and capitalizing on a recovering housing market.

"This acquisition is fundamentally about our commitment to strengthen our core business and adding capacity to execute our growth plans. By adding proven manufacturing assets and complementary technologies to the Deckorators business, we are removing constraints, expanding capacity and putting the brand in a stronger position to meet demand. One of our strategic objectives is to expand Deckorators' production capacity geographically. This was an attractive investment opportunity that met our internal return targets and will allow us to meet these growth plans ahead of greenfield expansion opportunities," said Will Schwartz, CEO of UFP Industries.

"The addition of MoistureShield strengthens our ability to innovate and serve our customers. By combining our technologies, product development capabilities, and market reach, we will accelerate growth and continue delivering high-performance outdoor solutions," added Ryan Kemp, Executive Vice President of Deckorators. Landon Tarvin, President of UFP Retail Solutions, noted that the company expects to double Deckorators' overall wood‑plastic composite capacity to $200 million by 2027 through this investment and additional capital investments at the acquired location.

The acquisition positions Deckorators to capture growth in the composite decking market, which is projected to expand significantly as housing sales recover and demand for low‑maintenance, durable outdoor products rises. By integrating MoistureShield’s traditional composite expertise and CoolDeck technology, Deckorators can offer a differentiated product portfolio that appeals to both residential and commercial customers, strengthening its competitive position against peers such as Trex and AZEK.
