Frontier Airlines announced a package of rescue fares and a $199 GoWild Summer Pass on May 2 2026, following the abrupt shutdown of Spirit Airlines. The promotion offers up to 50% off base fares on select travel dates through November 19, 2026, and provides unlimited flights across Frontier’s network for the summer season at a price that is the lowest introductory offer in the company’s history.
The GoWild Summer Pass is priced at $199, a steep discount compared with the $399 price of the 2024 pass and the $499 annual pass offered in 2023. Pass holders can travel on any Frontier flight through November 19, 2026, and the promotion includes a limited booking window that encourages early reservations.
Frontier currently serves more than 100 routes that were previously flown by Spirit. The airline will add nine new routes and increase daily flight frequency by 15 across 18 former Spirit markets, expanding its footprint in key U.S. hubs and regional centers.
Spirit Airlines’ collapse followed two bankruptcies (November 2024 and August 2025) and a debt load of $8.1 billion in August 2025. The airline’s failed bailout talks were derailed by creditor disputes and disagreements within the administration, leaving passengers stranded. Frontier’s move is part of a broader strategic shift that includes fleet optimization, the introduction of first‑class seating, and onboard Wi‑Fi, signaling a transition from a pure ultra‑low‑cost model to a more diversified service offering.
By capturing displaced Spirit customers, Frontier aims to boost short‑term revenue and load factors while strengthening its competitive position against other ultra‑low‑cost carriers. The rescue fares and GoWild pass are expected to generate immediate bookings, support Frontier’s network expansion, and reinforce its market share gains in the ULCC segment.
"Spirit Airlines played an important role in expanding access to affordable travel and bringing more low fares to more people. We recognize this is a difficult time for their customers and team members. Frontier is making discounted fares available to help people keep their travel plans and maintain access to low fares," said Bobby Schroeter, Frontier’s Chief Commercial Officer.
