Ur‑Energy Inc. and Noble Plains Uranium Corp. entered into a non‑binding Letter of Intent to evaluate the processing of uranium‑bearing solutions from Noble Plains’ Shirley Central Project at Ur‑Energy’s Shirley Basin in‑situ recovery (ISR) facility.

The agreement allows Ur‑Energy to leverage its existing mill infrastructure, potentially accelerating the start‑up of the Shirley Basin plant and increasing utilization of its capacity, while Noble Plains gains a processing route without the need to build a new plant, thereby de‑risking its development of the Shirley Central Project.

The U.S. uranium market is experiencing heightened demand as the country seeks to reduce reliance on imported fuel. Ur‑Energy already operates the Lost Creek ISR facility, the largest U.S. uranium producer, and the Shirley Basin project is slated to begin production in 2026, positioning the company to meet domestic supply needs.

Financially, Ur‑Energy has reported a negative operating margin and declining revenue, whereas Noble Plains has posted a negative net income. The partnership is expected to improve cash‑flow dynamics for both companies by enhancing utilization and reducing capital intensity.

"This LOI represents a meaningful step forward in our strategy to rapidly de‑risk and advance Shirley Central," said Drew Zimmerman, CEO of Noble Plains. "Having Ur‑Energy not only as a strategic neighbour, but also as a shareholder and now a potential processing partner, sends a strong signal to the market." Zimmerman added, "This data acquisition is exactly what our business model is built around, taking historically drilled uranium assets in great jurisdictions and accelerating them toward defined pounds in the ground."

The collaboration strengthens Ur‑Energy’s competitive position in the U.S. ISR market and provides Noble Plains with a proven processing partner, potentially accelerating the development of the Shirley Central Project and contributing to a more robust domestic uranium supply chain.
